2007 MADC Fall Picnic A Big Success.

10/25/07 - The MADC Board would like to thank all the people who came out to help make the 2007 MADC Fall Picnic a success.

A big thank you goes out to Einstein Bros. Bagels on Verona Road for supplying us with bagels for breakfast, Ian's Pizza on State Street for providing everyone with a great lunch, and Noodles and Company on Mineral Point road for providing an awesome dinner for everyone.

10/16/07 - The 2007 MADC Fall Picnic on October 21st is sure to be a good time so stop on by Elver Park and enjoy the day with the club.

Thanks to some great sponsors the food and drinks will be provided for all MADC Volunteers and club members. If you are not a MADC member you can still attend the picnic and find out what the Madison Area Disc Club is all about. You can even join the club at the picnic.

So stop on by for the whole day or just part of the day and help us celebrate the great 2007 season that we have had here in the Madison area.

10/10/07 - If you haven't already set aside Sunday, October 21st, now is the time to do it. For it will be a day full of discin', food and music. Plus, many chances to win prizes.

This year's Fall Picnic will take place at Elver Park starting with a 8:30 registration for the Bag Tag Challenge round and then continuing throughout the day and night. Here is a schedule for the day:

  • 8:30am - Registration begins for:
    • Mad Tag Bag Tag Challenge
    • Random Draw Doubles with A-Pool and B-Pool
    • Glow Round
    • Ace Pools (Basket Fund)
  • 9:30am - Bag Tag Challenge begins
  • 11:30am - Lunch Break
    • A band will provide music
    • Vote for new Club Officers
    • Games
    • Sign-up for Doubles / Glow Round
    • Not an MADC Member then JOIN the club
  • 1:00pm Random Draw Doubles Pairings posted
  • 1:30pm - Random Draw Doubles Begins
  • 4:00pm - Winners, Payouts Activities:
    • Games
    • Count Ballots
    • Glow Round groups posted
  • 5:00pm - Stealin' Strings Plays 1st Set
  • 6:00pm - Glow Round Begins
  • 8:00pm - Stealin' Strings Plays 2nd Set

Stealin' Strings Playing the 2007 MADC Fall Picnic

10/10/07 - Taking its favorite aspects of bluegrass and rock 'n' roll and tossing them together into a tasty dish of acoustic-electric vibrations, Stealin' Strings is coming to play the 2007 MADC Fall Picnic and will have you dancing and throwing discs better then ever.

Stealin' Strings first set will begin at 5:00 pm and, after a short break for a glow round, will resume again for a second set. So come on out to Elver Park and take part in what is bound to be an incredible night of music and discin'.

9/28/07 - The Elver Park Disc Golf Course renovations will get under way with workdays beginning this Sunday, September 30th @ 9:00 A.M.
Additional workdays are scheduled for

  • Sunday, October 7th (10/7)
  • Sunday, October 14th (10/14)
  • Saturday, October 20th (10/20)
  • Sunday, October 28th (10/28)
  • Sunday, November 4th (11/4)

The September 30th workday will be preparing around teepads for new crushed stone, to help alleviate some of the erosion that has occurred in the past.

Each workday a MADC member attends and participates in will gets them an entry into the Basket raffle which will be held at the MADC Fall Picnic on October 21st. You do not need to be a MADC member to participate in the workdays

MADC 2007-2008 Fall Election.

9/25/07 - The Madison Area Disc Club is now actively seeking candidates for the MADC 2007-2008 Fall election.

The election will be held at the MADC Fall Picnic, on Sunday, October 21st at Elver Park.

The following positions are up for election per the By-Laws.

  • Vice-President (2 year term)
  • Secretary (2 year term)
  • At-Large all three (1 year terms)
  • President, if we do not have one by the Fall Picnic, Sunday, October 21st.

Please consider presenting yourself as a candidate. Candidates must be a member of the Madison Area Disc Club. The Board has been meeting on the 2nd Monday of the month, on a monthly basis.

Candidates should prepare and submit a platform statement indicating what they stand for with regards to disc sports in Madison and beyond.

You can submit your candidacy by emailing madcweb@madcitydisc.org or by posting your platform on the MADC 2007-2008 Fall Elections announcement Thread on the MADC Forum. A brief bio would also be helpful including how long they have been playing disc golf and other tidbits you may feel are relevant.

To be on the official ballot, candidates must announce by October 14, 2007.

The theme for the upcoming year will be Expansion. We will also be focusing on the Elver Park Disc Golf Course renovations.

There is still a lot of Discing to do.

9/06/07 - While the summer is winding down there are still a lot of discing opportunities in the Madison area.

Tuesday night and Saturday morning leagues are still being held at Hiestand Park and Token Creek Park

This Saturday is the 3rd Annual Kiwanis Disc Golf Tournament in Stoughton. There are more events happening around Wisconsin this weekend so take a look at the MADC Upcoming Events Calendar .
