Mad City Disc Golf will no longer be managing a page to announce course openings and closures. It's come to our attention that the service provided by Disc Golf Course Review provides this information, together with a wonderful overview of course details and layouts. Visit their site at: http://www.dgcoursereview.com/browse_map.php?szip=53703.
Please provide any feedback about this decision by Contacting Us.
It is that time of year where the seasonal disc golf courses will start to close. The course at Johnson Park in Maple Bluff is now closed until next spring. We will attempt to update our Course Openings / Closings page as we receive information from the various parks agencies. Contact us via email or Facebook if you are aware of a closure that we have not posted. In the meantime, get out and enjoy the fall weather while you can!
The election to determine the 2014-15 MCDG Board of Directors will begin during our 2014 Fall Picnic event on October 5th through the following week at Glide Disc Golf, ending on 10/10. You must be a club member to vote or sit on the Board of Directors. Please see our Board of Directors page for more information on voting and running for a spot.
Positions up for election:
If you would like your name added to the board, please Contact Us with your name, contact information, position you are running for, and details on why you would like to run.
NOTE: Fall Picnic is October 5th, not the 15th as shown in the title.
This event serves as a Thank You to our members for supporting the club and the Greater Madison disc golf community. Not a member yet? Don't worry, you can join on-site!

The Mad City Open will be held this weekend, August 23rd-24th. The MCO is a PDGA Super Tour (A-Tier) event, and we expect over 250 players to compete. The Vallarta-Ast (Token Creek), Capital Springs (Lake Farm), Hiestand Park, and Bird's Ruins disc golf courses are all reserved for the tournament and will be closed to public play as follows:
On Saturday, all four courses will be closed until the completion of the second round of the tournament (approximately 5:00 PM). However, holes 19-27 at Vallarta-Ast will be open all day Saturday (please park near shelter #5, by holes 25-27).
On Sunday, Capital Springs, Hiestand, and Bird's Ruins will be closed until the completion of the third round of the tournament (approximately 1:00 PM). All 27 holes at Vallarta-Ast will be used for the tournament on Sunday and closed to public play until approximately 5:00 PM.
All times are approximate, and will be dependent on weather and other factors. Please do not play any of the courses until you can confirm that tournament play is completed for the day. Spectators are welcome to come watch the tournament at all times at all courses. The top players will be finishing their tournament on Holes 19-27 at Vallarta-Ast on Sunday afternoon, which is a great place to see the action.
Please note that other area courses will be open for play all weekend, such as Elver Park, Stoughton, Maple Bluff, Waterloo, Watertown, Evansville, Edgerton, Exeter, Portage, Beaver Dam, Waupun, Horicon, Lodi, Prairie du Sac, Arena, Baraboo, Cambridge, Milton, Janesville, etc. If you're not going to join us at the Mad City Open, this may be a great time to check out a course you haven't played before.
We thank you for your cooperation in allowing us to host one of the premier disc golf tournaments in the Midwest.
Mad City Disc Golf
Mad City Disc Golf is back with its Annual Goodman Pool Disc Golf Day at Goodman Pool this Saturday, August 2nd. We will be on the grounds from 1-3 pm.
This is a family friendly event for all ages. Don't miss:
For more information about Goodman Pool hours, policies and entrance fees visit http://www.cityofmadison.com/parks/pool/.
The disc golf course at Elver is now open. To the best of our knowledge, the improvements to #8, 9, 14, and 16 are not complete yet, so please stay off areas that are under construction. We will provide updates as we get any news from the City.
The weather looks great for tomorrow's Spring Kickoff at Vallarta-Ast (Token Creek). Registration for $5 random-draw doubles starts at 9:00 AM, and you must be registered by 9:45 to play. Cost to join the club is $15, which gets you a bag tag and lunch from Ian's Pizza, and supports our club's events and activities throughout the year. You can join the club without playing doubles, but must be a club member to participate in doubles and lunch.
As a reminder, we will be selling Dane County Disc Golf Permits on site for $48 (cash or check only). You do not need a permit to play tomorrow, but if you plan on playing Vallarta-Ast and Capital Springs more than six days the rest of this year (that's only once per month), the annual permit is the way to go. Support the club and County's courses by purchasing your permit at the Kickoff!
