Greetings,
 
Here are the minutes from the Madison Area Disc Club meeting on 12/11/2006.
We have set our goals for 2007.

MADC Board Meeting 12/11/2006 Agenda
Location: Cool Beans Coffee Cafe
Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Attendees:
Todd Ebens, Mike Farnham, Nic Lelm, Dan Madden, Jamie Royea, Jay Smith,
Kipp Van Orsdel, Brad Wendt

0. Happy Holidays

1. Next Meeting: Badger Swim-n-Stix, Monday, January 8, 2007 @ 5:30pm
(Note: Provided the Conference Room is in shape
 Action: Mike Farnham will contact and confirm
We are starting early to accomodate those who want to the watch the BCS Championship Game
Normal start time is 6:30pm
)

2. Finalize Election:
   Brad Wendt recounted the votes:
   President: Nobody accepted the job.
              Todd Ebens was elected President unanimously
              (The election was possible according to the By-Laws)
   Treasurer: Jamie Royea accepted
   Vice-President: Dan Madden continues to fulfill his 2-year committment
   Secretary:      Mike Farnham continues to fulfill his 2-year committment
   At-Large:
   1. Kipp Van Orsdel (14 votes)
   2.  Jay Smith (13 votes)
   3.  Nic Lelm (6 votes)
   (Note: Brent Baartman (19 votes) did not accept his victory, Todd Ebens (17 votes) did not accept
   because he accepted to be the President)
   
   Please Welcome your new MADC board members.
   (We will remember to take a Board Photo @ the January meeting)
   
   Please say "Thank you" to the former board members
   for their service: Ben & Marie Schwinn, Brad Wendt

3. Funds:
   a. Beginning Balance: 1,849
   b. Additions:           298
   c. Subtractions:        177.63
   d. Ending balance     1,978.85
   e. Additional subtractions:
      1. Check to PDGA for Affiliated Club Programs: $20.00
      2. Check to U.S. Postal service for P.O. Box: ~ $75.00
      3. Check to Domain Provider for madcitydisc.org url: 5 years @ 19.99

4. Fall Picnic: Success!
   a. 30 people attended
   
5. Elver course update:
   a. Winterized
      1. Some locks need to be oiled, possibly replaced
   
6. Hiestand
 a. Trash - Look at Adopt-A-Hole
 b. Renovations/Maintenance
    1. Few holes remaining
    2. Basket erosion
       a. Throw down woodchips
       b. Seek a more permanent cover like "cowmat"
          1. Jamie checked prices roughly $125/hole
             a. Todd concerned the material will be vandalized
       ACTION: Look to order a 1, to try it out
 c. Basket locations - 1 & 3 moved, 8 no cover, 10 frozen/covered
 
6a. Brad also brought back info from the WDSA
6c. Brad also proposed changing our name from MADC to just MadCityDisc
       1. Will be discussed on 1/8/2007

7. What's Next
 a. Things we know about
    1. Discs on Ice - February 24th
       a. MUFA has been approached for sponsoring
       b. Mike Farnham has been talking with Rob G
          about it, but no discussion of sponsorship
    2. Capital Cup - 5/20 & 5/21
       a. MADC will be a vendor
    3. Badger State Games
       a. MADC will be a vendor
    4. Mad City Open
       a. MADC may contribute as a sponsor
    5. Elver Adopt-A-Hole
       a. It works best if the person lives near Elver
       ACTION: Mike Farnham will ask Marie Schwinn if Ben and her plan
               to continue as the Adopt-A-Hole Coordinator
       RESPONSE: Marie and Ben have declined to coordinate the Adopt-A-Hole
                               they will be contacting a possible replacement.
    6. Elver Renovations &
       Talking with the City of Madison
       a. Recognize we need an assessment
          in order to create a plan for the city
       ACTION: Todd Ebens will spear-head, Jay Smith
               and Nic Lelm are willing to the walk-thru
               assessment of Elver. They will report back on 1/8/2007
   
 b. Things we've talked about
    1. Club Bag Tag
       a. MADC will provide seed money for the first set of BagTags for Members Only
       ACTION: Kipp Van Orsdel will present the Bag Tag plan on 1/8/2007
     (Kipp has posted a Bag Tag thread on the MADC Forum:

    2. MadTown ThrowDown Bring Your Own Partner was Ice Bowl
       ACTION: Todd is the Tournament Director
       a. Questions:
          1. Is this a charitable event?
             a. Possibly encourage players to donate cans of food
          2. Will MADC be a sponsor?
          3. Will Hiestand be rented? No
         
    3. Course in ground year round
       A new course in the Madison Area
       a. Much discussion about presentation, etc.
       ACTION: Deferred till 1/8/2007
       
    4. Communication Strategy
       a. How we get the word out.
          (NOTE: This wasn't discussed, but here are the possiblities)
          1. MADC Website
          2. MADC Forum
          3. dgolfers list
          4. Facebook (Mike Farnham has an account. This is best for College crowd)
          5. MySpace (Mike Farnham has an account. Best for 20+ non-college crowd)
          6. Park Kiosks
          7. Other websites, Newspapers, and so on and so forth, etc, etc
          8. Word-of-Mouth or "Pimping the club, as Chad calls it."
          9. PDGA DISCussion Forum (Possible because the Club Affiliation program)
         
8. What are we going to do in 2007?
   Here are the GOALS for MADC for 2007.
   We recognize that the most important thing we can do
   for 2007 will be to maintain the awesome courses that
   we alrady have in the ground.
   (Do hold us accountable)
   In Priority order
   1. Elver Park Rennovations (Todd, Nic and Jay, plus a cast of many volunteers)
      NOTE: We do not have an official Course Pro for Elver
   2. Hiestand Rennovations (Brad and a cast of many volunteers)
   3. Hiestand Trash - (Nic)
   4. Elver Adopt-A-Hole (Waiting)
   5. Tournaments: 15th Annual Mad City Open (Brad + MCO Team)
   6. Bag Tag Challenge (Kipp)
   7. Badger Swim-n-Stix Putting League
      a. Monday nights
      b. Once a month coincide with MADC Club Meeting
