Greetings!

At the MADC Fall Picnic 2006, we will be holding elections.

The following offices are up for election:
1. President - no candidates thus far
2. Treasurer - current office holder: Jamie Royea
3. At-Large 1 - Open
4. At-Large 2 - current office holder: Marie Schwinn
5. At-Large 3 - current office holder: Ben Schwinn

If you are interested in running for any seat,
please submit your name and platform (Why your running, what you want to see done)
to any current board member, or simply post a message here.

We encourage everybody to consider running for election.
You must be a club member to hold office.

Overview of what the board does:
1. Meet on a monthly basis.
2. Help promote disc sports in Madison and beyond
3. Work with the City of Madison Parks Department for the maintenance and upkeep of Hiestand and Elver.
4. Assist with tournaments in the Madison area.

Special things we did this year:
1. Assisted Galen Wiese in creating the U.W. Disc Golf Club
2. Replaced the metal trash cans @ Elver with the plastic Adopt-A-Hole trash cans.
3. Pretty much completed renovations @ Hiestand.
4. Hosted/Directed/Assisted with the Mad City Open
5. Encouraged growth in the membership of the club
6. Updated the website with a more consistent look and feel
7. Launched this Forum

Ben and I won't be running for any positions this year because we have trouble committing to dates/times.  This is not to say we won't attend any meetings.  It just offers us more flexibilty w/o letting down the BOD.  So, all At-Large positions will be open.

I'd be interested in an At-large position, but I first need to get my membership dues in Smiley  Will the schedule for next years Board meetings be developed before the picnic?

My position: 1st - The Madison area needs more courses.  Pursuing the development of courses in neighboring communities and within Madison as well.  2nd - Provide more varied volunteer opportunities to promote disc sports in the community.

We have another update on the available positions:

1. President - current Todd Ebens - not running for office, Status = OPEN
2. Vice-president - current Dan Madden - Status = 1 more year of service
2. Treasurer - current Jamie Royea - not running for office, Status = OPEN
3. Secretary - current Mike Farnham - Status = 1 more year of service
4. At-Large #1 - current Brad Wendt - not running for office, Status = OPEN
5. At-Large #2 - current Marie Schwinn - not running for office, Status = OPEN
6. At-Large #3 - current Ben Schwinn - not running for office, Status = OPEN
7. Honorary member - Duster

Remember this is your board, so you get to decide with your vote.
Of course, if nobody runs, then it will be hard to vote.

So, do consider serving on the board. This is a great opportunity to shape Disc Sports,
in Madison and beyond....

Position descriptons can be found on the MADC Website:

Hello All!  I just wanted to throw my disc in the ring for an at large position.  Thats right the guy who caused all the trash discussions on Hiestand.  My big push will be for getting more volunteers and a good method of supplying things needed to keep courses clean.  I would like to start the push for cans on every three holes minimum on hiestand.  As I understand it we have some holes that didn't get taken care of regualrily by volunteers @ elver and I would like to get involved with a campaign to get more people involved.  I have spent every round cleaning on hiestand and got a great reception and have had good luck geting people to help.  I look forward to setting upa good process that works for all to keep trash out of the tress and still keep it off the course as much as possible.
Also thanks to all who have helped me and look forward to workign with you more!
Peace

Welcome Nic and thanks for your service.

Just a reminder - The MADC 2006 Election ballots need to be prepared before the Picnic (before 11/18)
preferably more than a week before the picnic.

NOW is the TIME to put it in WRITING.
