In the past, Madison had a great group of women who'd get together for a round of golf once a week.  Unfortunately, it kind of died last year.  I headed up the group for a few years, but with the house and puppy, I can't commit to playing every week.  It would be sad to see the group disappear forever.  If there are any women out there reading this post, please consider running a group.  I can even hook you up with a few sponsors to make the group fabulous!

Here's a gratuitous shot of my pride and joy:

I'll be stopping by Glide this week to introduce myself to Mike and hopefully get a few contacts for Women's Night.

I'm looking for another female who could help or share in some of the responsibilities.

I only have a handful of used discs (5 -7) to start beginners but LOTS of questions.
Anyone out there interested in joining forces to get this started?

I know I can't do it alone, but with some help, I think we could make it a really good group.
Marie did it for years and I've heard nothing but great things.

Come on ladies, let's make it happen - Don't let all of Marie's hard work through the years be for nothing!  Grin
It's time to step up.

I've seen some friendly women out playing and whenever I do, I always say - it's so great to see other women playing!!
Aren't you tired of only playing with your boyfriends, hubbys and sig. others?

What a bummer to find out the first year I can play weekly, there's no women's group available....

Any female disc golf lovers out there - PM me.
Let's get this group going this summer!

Yeah! I'm glad you stepped forward to help run a group.  You seem to be very enthusiastic about the sport, and you are just what the women disc golfers in Madison need to get a group going again.  I think you'll find a lot of support from the Madison disc golf community.  Some of the best support actually comes from the men.  I've had donations from Mike Newhouse (he was actually one of the main reasons the group got started), Mike Farnham (coyoteugly), Randy Schukar of Platypus Discs, and the MADC.  Mike at Glide is also a great supporter of women disc golfers. I look forward to playing your league when I can. I'm sure another woman will step forward in no time to help you out.

I am quite willing to help.  My husband critique's me quite a bit so I might have some useful suggestions.  My form and enthusiasm has developed by having him help me get better.  I have a few discs that could be donated to those beginning.  I've been playing for about 4 years now.  I'd love to help however I can.

Looks like we're almost there ladies!
Flyer's went out this week to advertise the league and clinic...

If anyone has any discs they'd like to donate to the program, please PM me.
We are giving women a chance to join the league and participate in the clinic for free!!!!
Thanks to the support of members here, Glide and DGU.

We are hoping that more women will be interested if it doesn't cost money to play or to start.
We've already received some discs from Juliana Korver and a couple of forum members have offered some, but we can always use more.
This way, those wishing to join league but don't have the necessary discs, can!
And we can have as many clinic participants as we have discs!

The women's league will be @ Elver on Monday Nights.
Time & Start Date TBA
Women's clinic will run 1 or 2 (if we get enough participants) Mondays a month before league.

If you or anyone you know is interested and we don't already have their email address, send it to; IdRatherBDiscn33@yahoo.com.

Thanks!  Smiley

I will be more than happy to donate a few new discs for prizes or whatever.  I also have a lot of used discs that you can have if needed.  Let me know what kind you want and i will see what i have.

I will try and get Ronda and Dakota out for a few of the womens nights.   Kalea is still a bit young.     I will drop some discs off at Glide this week.

We'll take any discs, but we're definitely looking for the lighter weights, 150's & 160's...

But ANY and ALL are appreciated!   Smiley

i dropped off a dozen (approximately) discs at play it again. i would consider most of them "starter" discs. sorry they're not newer champion/star plastic but these should at least give the players multiple options of drivers to choose from. good luck!  -kirk

Louie's Mama

Hi, there!

My name's Katy and I met a guy last night at Heistand who I am guessing may be someone in this thread. Don't know that for certain, I should have asked his name/login. I was the one with the dog, Louie, and my fiance was the guy with the short dark hair. But I am interested in playing. I used to have meetings for a non-profit I was helping on Monday nights, but now I'm free those nights. I have the following Mondays free:

6/15
6/22
possibly 6/29
not 7/6 (getting married 7/4, will be out of town!)
probably 7/13

...Rest of summer is to be determined. If it was every other Monday starting 6/15, it looks like I could be there no problem. I would make it work on the other days. I work until 5 most Mondays on the East Side, so I'd need a little time to get over to Elver. 6 would probably work best for me.

I am not that good at Disc Golfing, but I actually would like to get some pointers. I usually throw 2-3 over par (we count most holes as a par 3). I have played Elver a few times but I have found it to be especially challenging on the wooded holes. If I could improve my game, I would love that. The thing I especially need to learn is how to get more distance. I would also like to learn how to throw it other ways than just the normal way... you know, some tricks... and not have the result be totally uncontrolled and bad looking. I am already pretty good at putting and throwing straight most of the time. A workshop would be awesome. I am not sure that I could get there 1-2 hours ahead of time, but I would love to know more about this.

I already have some discs.

Has this already been set up, and are other women interested? I am interested in being part of it, but not planning it. I always get nominated to help plan stuff and I'd rather just take part this time.

Hi Katy,

My name is Mike.

I was the guy who told you about Women's Night.
Glad you took the time to find it.

I'll let Lisa answer your questions.
