The Bird's Ruins disc golf course in Marshall was also closed today.  It will re-open as soon as the ground dries up enough.  If you haven't seen the news yet, our club's Spring Kickoff will be held at Bird's Ruins on May 11th.  We hope to see you there!

The disc golf course at Hiestand Park is now closed for the spring thaw.  Please stay off the course until it reopens, typically around May 1st.  Thank you for your cooperation.

For those of you looking to make your 2013 tournament plans, the WI Tour schedule has been released, and is available at the Wisconsin Disc Sports Association website.  We can help you fill in the question mark for the WI Tour Finale, because we are hosting it, Sat. Sept. 28th, at Vallarta - Ast (Token Creek).  That's right Madison-area golfers, we're looking for you to qualify to play the Finale on your home turf!

The Madison Area Disc Club is once again part of the PDGA Affiliate Club Program for 2013.  This means that MADC members receive a $5 discount on the price of their online PDGA membership renewal or new membership.  Members can receive the discount by visiting the Membership Page at the PDGA Store and clicking the appropriate link for New or Renewing members at the bottom of the page under "2013 PDGA AFFILIATE CLUB MEMBERSHIPS".  On the forms, look for the section titled "Affilate Club" and select "13 Madison Area Disc Club" from the pulldown menu.

PDGA members receive a $10 discount on entry fees for B-Tier and C-tier PDGA tournaments.  PDGA membership is required to play in an A-tier (such as the 2013 Mad City Open) or Major tournament.  Even if you don't play in a lot of tournaments, PDGA members receive other benefits and help to promote disc golf around the world.  For more information on PDGA membership, please visit the PDGA's Membership Information page.

The Fall Picnic is still on, even if it rains.  We'll keep monitoring conditions and modify the schedule as necessary, but we'll still have games, lunch from Ian's Pizza, the raffle, used disc sales, elections, and hopefully a round or two of disc golf.  Remember, we're at the "new" shelter at Elver, which has covered outdoor seating and a large enclosed room in which to escape the weather.  Registration starts at 9:00 AM.  See you there!

Reminder that elections for the 2012-13 MADC Board of Directors will be held this month, starting at the Fall Picnic on Sunday, October 14th.  Club members will be able to vote for candidates to fill two-year terms for the positions of President and Treasurer, as well as one-year terms for all three at-large positions.  Candidates have until this Sunday, October 7th, to declare.  Please see the 2012-13 Elections thread on the forum for more details.

With the growth of disc golf as a sport, so does the demand for more courses in the area. In turn there is an even higher demand for volunteers to conduct maintenance, design and
implementation efforts. Without our members this could not happen. MADC hosts this annual event as a way of giving thanks to our members for their continued support.
