Do you want to see a disc golf course in Fitchburg? Based in part on the successful Fitchburg Disc Golf Day a few years ago, and followup work between the club, Glide Disc Golf, and parks staff, the city has been interested in finding the right place for installation of a disc golf course. They are currently assessing options for the Nine Springs Golf Course along Fish Hatchery Rd, whether to keep it as a ball golf course, or convert it to a park. One of the specific alternatives is inclusion of a disc golf course. Please see the following page for more info, including info about an open house this Thursday (Oct 24th) to discuss options: http://www.city.fitchburg.wi.us/departments/cityHall/planning/NineSpringsPlanning.php
We would love to have club members, ESPECIALLY Fitchburg residents, offer their support of disc golf at this open house. The open house is Thursday, October 24th, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, at the Fitchburg Christian Fellowship Church, 2924 Fish Hatchery Road, just south of the Beltline, past Wendy's and BMO Harris bank.
If you are a club member and did not attend the Fall Picnic, you may still vote for the club's Board of Directors by stopping at Glide Disc Golf through this Saturday, October 5th. More information about the board and the election can be found on our Board of Directors Elections page.
This event serves as a Thank You to our members for supporting the club and the Greater Madison disc golf community. Not a member yet? Don't worry, you can join on-site!
The election to determine the 2013-14 MCDG Board of Directors will be held from Sunday, Sept 29th to Saturday, Oct 5th. You must be a club member to vote or sit on the Board of Directors. Please see the following page for more information on voting and running for a spot: http://www.madcitydisc.org/board-of-directors-elections.html
We encourage all club members to vote and consider running for a spot on the Board. Please talk to a current board members, or post to the forum or Facebook page if you have any questions about the board, meetings, duties, or the election.
You have been challenged! We received 94 registrations for the Ace Race on Sept 8th, but "accidentally" ordered 144 player packs, which was how many players there were last year. That means there are 50 spots still available ... but not for long. If you haven't registered yet, we're giving you another chance. If you have registered already, thank you, but now go get some of your disc golfing friends and family to join you! The more players we get, the bigger and better additional prizes we can offer, but remember that the player pack alone is worth twice your $25 entry fee. Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis at Glide Disc Golf
. We've already ordered the packs, so once we hit 144 registered players, that's it.
As a reminder, you do NOT need a City of Madison disc golf permit to play in the Ace Race. We paid to rent the course for our participants.
The club celebrates the traditional start of the local disc golf season with our annual Spring Kickoff.Saturday, May 11thBird’s Ruins DGC
, Langer Park in MarshallSee the flyer for event schedule
Please note that the location is different from recent years, when it has been held at Hiestand. There will be a lot of great local disc golf events this year, and we want to spread them out to different courses.
The Kickoff also serves as the beginning of our club’s membership year. The cost to join or renew is $15 ($10 for juniors under age 16). You will receive a bag tag for joining, which can be used all year long for the MCDG Bag Tag Challenge
. The initial distribution of bag tags will be based on the results of the random-draw doubles round ($5 additional fee) played at the Kickoff. Anyone who joins at the Kickoff but does not play doubles, or joins anytime after the Kickoff, will receive the lowest numbered tag remaining. The rest of your membership fee allows the club to put on events and promote disc golf and other flying disc sports in the greater Madison area.
We've changed our name from the Madison Area Disc Club, to Mad City Disc Golf. New name, new logo, same passion for disc golf. We will continue to promote disc golf and other flying disc sports throughout Madison, Dane County, and beyond. With your help, the club will continue to grow, allowing us to offer more events for members and the community at large.
Thanks for your patience as we update the new name and logo throughout our social media sites and web page. Keep using http://madcitydisc.org/
for now. Join us for the Mad City Disc Golf Spring Kickoff on Saturday, May 11th, at the Bird's Ruins DGC at Langer Family Park in Marshall.
The Bird's Ruins disc golf course in Marshall was also closed today. It will re-open as soon as the ground dries up enough. If you haven't seen the news yet, our club's Spring Kickoff will be held at Bird's Ruins on May 11th. We hope to see you there!

The Fall Picnic is still on, even if it rains. We'll keep monitoring conditions and modify the schedule as necessary, but we'll still have games, lunch from Ian's Pizza, the raffle, used disc sales, elections, and hopefully a round or two of disc golf. Remember, we're at the "new" shelter at Elver, which has covered outdoor seating and a large enclosed room in which to escape the weather. Registration starts at 9:00 AM. See you there!
